Greening for Growth

Greening for Growth is a sub-regional partnership in North Staffordshire dedicated to improving the image of the conurbation through a series of green actions.  The programme will see investment of £20 million pounds in green space projects over 6 years.

Newcastle under Lyme Borough Council is one of the partners, where Greening for Growth seeks to:

  • Improve and enhance the Borough’s parks & open spaces.
  • Establish friends & user groups for the strategic parks.
  • Formation of new & upgrading existing greenways along key routes.
  • Enhancement of strategic transport corridors through high quality landscape improvements and public art features.

Projects undertaken to date:

         Bradwell Woods Greenway - a safe, traffic free lit route between the Borough and
Stoke on Trent.

         Lyme Valley Parkway - a strategic park, which now has a play area for the under 8’s, an adventure play area, a lit pedestrian / cycle route over the parks 1.5 km length.  The scheme also provided an events space and reinforced grass parking area, a multi use games area & BMX track, and viewing areas in to the disused canal basin situated within the park, which is now a
haven for wildlife.
